On 10th April, 1915, the 2nd East Kent (Buffs) battalion of 85 Brigade, 28th Division left their billets at Vlamertinghe and moved into trenches at Zopnnebeke, in the northern part of the Ypres salient where they remained until relieved on 14th April. At 10.30pm on 11th April, The day on which Bertie Moss was killed, the battalion’s trenches were heavily bombarded by trench mortars causing several casualties. |
